A picturesque park of forest, acacia woodland and open grassland, Lake Manyara covers a narrow section of land between the soda lake itself and the steep Rift Valley walls. Famous for its tree climbing lions the park also boasts good leopard spotting and over 400 species of bird. In the Simba River find hippos, on the open plains there is a resident herd of Cape buffalo and in the forests numerous elephant. The host flamingos, herons and yellow billed storks will impress even the most reluctant of birdwatchers!
