Madagascar has a tropical climate with large regional variations and therefore, it is possible to visit all year round.
In general, July to August is the coolest and driest time. The rainy season occurs from mid-December to mid-March and during this time, the hot days can be interrupted by short heavy showers.
In February cyclones may occur. September to December is an excellent time of the year for bird watching and October to November is baby lemur season.
After the rains in April and May, the country is lush and green. Whale watching on Ille Sainte Marie is best July and August.
