When to Go
South Africa’s seasons are opposite to the UK and the climate varies significantly between the regions.
In the Western Cape, including Cape Town, the summer is hot and sunny and in winter, the climate is mild but wetter.
The eastern side of South Africa, including the Kruger and KwaZulu Natal, enjoys year round sunshine. The winter here is driest and therefore, you will experience good wildlife viewing and few problems with mosquitos.
Spring, from September to November, is a pleasant and colourful time to visit Cape Town and the scenic ‘Garden Route’ with flowers blooming and exceptional whale watching.
