Information

great location for:

Meru is Africa at its most wild and untamed. Relatively untouched by tourism and close to the equator, it is an area of arid bush intersected by numerous streams flowing down from Mount Kenya to the Tana River on the park’s southern boundary. This area was made famous by the documentary ‘Born Free’ and is the former home of Joy and George Adamson and the lioness Elsa. In the 1980’s poaching took a heavy toll on the wildlife of Meru but thankfully it has now recovered and boasts much of Africa’s big game. Waiting to be discovered, if you visit now you are likely to have it pretty much to yourself!
