great location for:

Often labelled the ‘world’s highest walkable mountain’, at 5896 metres high the snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa. The climb is not for the faint hearted as the altitude can make it a real challenge, however, to see the sunrise from the ‘roof of Africa’ is an unforgettable experience which more than makes up for all the effort. There are several routes to the summit, all taking between 5 and 8 nights on the mountain and accommodation is either in tented camps or mountain huts, with days for acclimatisation built into the itineraries. As well as the challenge the mountain offers, it is also a fascinating place to spend time in the foothills which are inhabited by elephant, buffalo and a wide range of antelope. You will climb through several eco-climatic zones from rainforest, heath, moorland, alpine desert and finally to snow and ice. Whether you make the challenging climb or simply walk on its lower slopes, this enduring symbol of Africa is sure to leave lasting memories.
