About the size of Wales, Kafue National Park is undeveloped, raw and diverse. Not only the biggest but also the oldest park in the country, rivers meander through Kafue and create a variety of game rich environments. In the north, the Busanga Plains are flooded during the wet season, leaving hippo stranded in shallow pools as the waters subside. To the South, lush grasslands are home to large herds of Red Lechwe and other antelope with big cats always lurking nearby. The park is well worth an extended stay with several activities to choose from; bird watching and fishing are particularly good and night drives can be taken to spot the elusive leopard.
